Avios hotels are one of the most rewarding ways to use your points. Through the British Airways Executive Club and the wider Avios programme, you can book hotels at thousands of properties worldwide, from city centre stays to long-haul holidays, paying entirely with points, entirely with cash, or a mix of both. The same Avios you earn on flights, credit cards and everyday spending can be put toward hotel stays across a broad range of properties, from independent boutiques to major international chains.
The challenge with using Avios for hotels is knowing whether it actually represents good value. The points price for a hotel stay can vary significantly depending on the property, the dates and the redemption rate. Without a clear comparison, it is easy to spend Avios on a stay where you would have been better off paying cash and saving your points for a higher-value redemption.
When the hotel module launches, Ruma will show you exactly which option gives you better value. For every property and date you search, you will see the cash price, the points price and the pence-per-point you are getting. The same comparison logic we already use for flights. If the redemption value is above the baseline for the Avios programme, Ruma recommends using points. If not, it recommends cash. You will also be able to collect Avios on qualifying cash stays, so every booking keeps building your balance toward your next reward.
